The St. Cloud State Women's Center organized a solidarity support rally for Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, and all other sexual assault survivors, as the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearing continued. The Women's Center set up the event as part of the National Solidarity Day organized by the leaders of the Women's March on Washington. The center urged students to come out and show their support for Ford as she was testifying before the judiciary council.
The support rally was held in the Atwood Lounge on September 27th at 11:30 p.m., they encouraged students that couldn't make it to the rally to show their support by leading a moment of silence at 12:30 p.m.
A number of people were invited by the Women's Center to share a message with those attending the rally, leaders such as, Peggy LaDue, the Director of the Central Minnesota Sexual Assault Center, and the Students for Choice organizations president, Carlee Staples. Jane Olsen, the Director of the Women's Center closed the rally, she spoke about the coalition building that has been making place nationwide. The rally was for channeling outrage into action, speaking out on how the country is treating women who come forward with the truth.
